If you are experiencing slow performance problems on your system while browsing the web with Mozilla Firefox, you can use Firefox's built-in Task Manager to quickly identify the system's resource usage and manage their usage. See how you can use it.

First, if you already have Firefox open, leave your tabs as is. Otherwise, open Firefox and load a few frequently visited websites in multiple tabs to use as examples for the Task Manager.
In any Firefox window, click the three horizontal lines icon in the upper-right corner of the window and select More > Task Manager

When the Task Manager tab appears, you will see a list of open tabs, each of which corresponds to a website you are browsing. At any time, you can click on the column title “Memory” or “Energy Impact” to sort the tabs from the highest to the lowest resource usage.

To see each tab’s CPU usage, look at the “Energy Impact” column. You’ll see labels like “Low,” “Medium,” and “High,” along with numbers that measure the relative energy impact (higher numbers mean more energy consumption). Tabs with the highest energy impact will reduce your computer’s CPU performance, use more electrical power , and drain battery faster.

To see how much RAM each tab is using, look at the “Memory” column. Typically, you’ll see memory usage in megabytes (MB). If you see very high numbers here, it’s likely that particular website or tab is slowing down your machine.

If you see a small black arrow next to any tab in the list, click on it to see an expanded list of subframes and trackers in use. Some websites call on external websites to provide them with additional functionality or send data to ad – which may use the resources.

After you click the arrow, you might be surprised when you see all the trackers and subframes that some websites include in their code.

And finally, if you want to close an annoying tab, select it in the list and then click the “X” button at the far right side of the row.

The tab will close. You can close as many tabs as you want in this way, which can also be a handy quick method to manage a massive list of open tabs. Good luck!
This feature is available in all versions of Mozilla Firefox for desktop, including Firefox on Windows 10, macOS , and Linux.
