Today's Windows 10 20H2 release is the first release to automatically replace Microsoft Edge Legacy with the new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge regardless of the policies you have in place.
In January 2020, Microsoft officially released the new Chromium -based Edge browser . Since then, those who wanted to use it could download it from the Microsoft Edge site or wait for Windows Update to automatically install it.

When installed, Microsoft Edge Legacy will be removed and replaced with the new Microsoft Edge.
Those who didn't want the new Microsoft Edge could use the Edge Blocker Toolkit or Group Policy templates to create Registry entries that prevent the modern browser from being installed.
The new Microsoft Edge is now mandatory
With the release of Windows 10 20H2, Microsoft Edge has become an essential and therefore mandatory component of the operating system.
If you previously blocked the installation of Microsoft Edge, these policies are now ignored and the new browser will be installed along with the new feature.
Microsoft sources have told BleepingComputer that they consider the new Microsoft Edge to be an integral part of Windows 10 and part of the operating system's overall security landscape
Because of this, they want to ensure that all Windows users are provided with a more secure, private, and higher- performing browser with all default Windows 10 installations
