“We are aware that some players experienced pop-up ads while playing certain titles Assassin's Creed,” Ubisoft spokesperson Fabien DarriguesThe Verge. “This was the result of a technical error that we addressed immediately upon becoming aware of the issue.”
Ubisoft didn't provide any further details about the glitch , but it doesn't seem like a coincidence that Black Friday ads were appearing to promote Ubisoft's latest Assassin's Creed releases. Logically, someone at Ubisoft would have had to have planned it specifically for this week. We just don't know if this was a limited test that was somehow leaked, or if there were plans for an actual release. Either way, showing ads in the middle of a game that a gamer has paid for is definitely a bad decision.

Recently, Microsoft used full-screen pop-up ads on Xbox to promote its own games , and there was some backlash from gamers there as well. Microsoft's ads only appear when you open the Xbox, and not everyone seems to be getting them.
Full-screen pop-up ads in the middle of a game are certainly not uncommon. Gamers buy games at quite high prices, and interruptions during gameplay for ads are very annoying. Let's hope that this was indeed a technical error, as Ubisoft said, and that this will not continue in the future.

These types of ads appear unexpectedly and interrupt the enjoyment of the game. Players may feel annoyed and dissatisfied, as they do not expect or want them. This can lead to a decrease in player satisfaction and negatively affect the overall gaming experience.
Additionally, pop-up ads can create insecurity and frustration for players. When ads appear abruptly and without warning, players may worry about their game as interruptions can occur at a critical point.
