Gears of War: E-Day: Goes Gold and PC Requirements Revealed

The countdown to the return of one of the most recognizable action game series has officially begun. The Coalition announced that Gears of War: E-Day has completed development and gone Gold, marking one of the most significant milestones before a game's release.

Gears of War: E-Day

The term “Gold” is used in the industry when a game has reached a final stage of development, with the version intended for release having been completed. This does not necessarily mean that developers will not continue to work on the title. On the contrary, from this point onward, fixes can follow through patches and updates, but the core code and content of the release version are now “locked”.

The Coalition celebrated this important step through social media, publishing relevant material to inform fans that the game is ready to move into the final stretch.

Gears of War: E-DayThree different PC requirements

Along with the announcement of Gold status, the final system requirements for the PC version. The Coalition has created three different tiers so players can tailor their experience to their hardware.

The Minimum preset targets Medium graphics, 1080p resolution, and 60 FPS. For the graphics card, models such as the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 or RTX 2060 and the AMD Radeon RX 6600 or RX 9060, with at least 6GB of VRAM. The required RAM is 12GB, while 115GB of available storage space. In terms of the processor, The Coalition mentions options such as the AMD Ryzen 5 2600X and corresponding Intel models.

For those who want higher image quality, the Recommended preset raises the bar to High graphics, 1440p resolution and 60 FPS. This requires 16GB of RAM, a 115GB SSD and graphics cards such as the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 or RTX 3060 Ti, as well as AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT or RX 9060 XT, with 8GB of VRAM. In terms of processors, we find the AMD Ryzen 5 5600 and the Intel Core i5-11600K.

The Ultra preset is aimed at powerful gaming PCs

At the top is the Ultra preset, which is designed for gaming systems . The goal here is 4K graphics at 60 FPS, which translates into significantly increased demands on processing power and GPU.

This category requires 16GB of RAM, a 115GB SSD, and at least 12GB of VRAM . Recommended graphics cards include the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT , while the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D or Intel Core i7-14700K are recommended CPUs .

These specific requirements show that the PC version of E-Day is designed to take advantage of modern hardware, offering different levels of performance depending on the capabilities of each system.

DLSS 4.5, FSR 4 and Ray Tracing

The PC version's technological background is also of particular interest. Gears of War: E-Day will support modern upscaling technologies, including Nvidia DLSS 4.5 and AMD FSR 4, allowing compatible computers to achieve higher levels of performance without necessarily sacrificing significant image quality.

The game will also feature HDR, support for ultra-wide screens, and Ray Tracing, features that can significantly enhance the visual presentation. Ray Tracing in particular can provide more realistic reflections, lighting, and shadows, but requires additional computing resources.

The existence of multiple presets is expected to be particularly helpful for PC gamers, as not everyone will need to have a top-of-the-line gaming system to enjoy the title.

When does the pre-install start?

For those who have already purchased the game digitally or plan to play it through Xbox Game Pass, there is also the option to pre-install. Pre-install will begin on September 29th, giving players plenty of time to download the necessary files before the official release.

The pre-installation is particularly useful for a modern game of this size, as the 115GB of storage space means the download won't be insignificant. This means those who want to get started right away on release day will be able to have their system ready several days in advance.

Released on October 6th

Gears of War: E-Day will be released on October 6th for Xbox Series X|S and PC. The fact that the game has gone Gold means that The Coalition has now entered the final stages before releasing it to the public.
