All the new features in iOS 27.2 Beta 1

Apple has made a rather unexpected move by releasing the first beta of iOS 27.2 to developers , without a corresponding beta version for iOS 27.1. This choice seems to be related to how the company wants to manage its upcoming releases, as the iPhone Duo is expected to make its appearance in October with iOS 27.1 .

Going straight to iOS 27.2 may therefore allow Apple to keep elements and code related to the new model out of this testing process. At the same time, the first beta reveals several changes affecting everyday apps and ecosystem functions.

iOS 27.2A new era for the Health app

One of the most significant changes is the redesigned Health app, which has a more organized structure and a different way of presenting data. The new version is divided into three main sections: Insights, Longevity, and Browse.

Insights together the latest information about the user's condition, such as vital signs, sleep data, heart rate and Activity Rings. The goal is to put the most important metrics right in front of the user, without having to search through many different categories.

The Longevity places more emphasis on the evolution of fitness over time. It also features Health Age, an indicator that attempts to capture the overall picture of fitness using data such as activity, VO2 max, and sleep duration.

Of particular interest are the new assessments that can be performed through the app and utilize the camera . Tests can be related to parameters such as flexibility, strength, balance and VO2 max.

This approach shows how Apple is trying to transform the iPhone from a simple repository of health data to a tool that can help users better understand their physical condition. For now, however, the revamped Health experience is limited to the English version for the US. The app also gets a new icon.

Siri and Apple Intelligence with more capabilities

iOS 27.2 also expands capabilities Siri AI, as the beta adds support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. The language expansion is an important step in extending the AI features to more users.

Meanwhile, Call Context also gets anniversary reminders. When a user calls a contact who has an anniversary registered, the iPhone can display a notification in the Phone app.

Additionally, Siri's " App Access " setting is being renamed to Excluded Apps . The change isn't just a name change, as it's now possible to exclude multiple apps at once . An app that's on this list won't appear in Siri suggestions, Search, and related system suggestions.

More personalization options in CarPlay Ultra

Underneath the beta code are also hints at new customization options for CarPlay Ultra. It appears that users will be able to choose different themes, wallpapers, instrument styles, and colors.

Even more interestingly, in supported vehicles, ambient lighting may adapt to the color of the selected theme, creating a more seamless experience between the car's display and interior.

Apple TV: Profiles and better parental controls

The Apple TV app for iPhone and iPad is also getting major changes , with expanded profile support. Each user can have their own profile, while parents can create a child profile with specific content restrictions.

The process requires basic information, such as a name and age restriction. For child accounts, age-appropriate restrictions are applied by default, while more detailed customization is possible for TV shows and movies.

At the same time, an option to activate interpretation in sign language, where supported, is added through the TV application settings.

FaceTime and sign language interpretation

Apple is also moving forward with its previously announced FaceTime API . The new API allows interpretation sign language apps to integrate a human interpreter into an active video call.

The feature paves the way for third-party apps that can make video calls more accessible, especially in situations where communication through sign language is a basic need.

Smaller but visible changes to Clock, Music and Podcasts

iOS 27.2 also includes several smaller UI tweaks. In the Clock, am and pm are now displayed in a smaller size next to the time.

In Music, Apple is reducing some of the red elements in the interface. The Play and Shuffle buttons in the Library, as well as their icons, now appear in black, creating a more discreet visual presence.

In Podcasts , the " Up Next " section is renamed to New Episodes , while the " Continue Playing " option is added just below it , so that the two functions are more clearly separated.

New Approach to App Tracking Transparency in Europe

Of particular interest to European users are the changes to App Tracking Transparency. According to Apple's notes, iOS 27.2 supports an alternative and more detailed consent message for users in the European Union, while there is also the option to re-appear the relevant prompt on an annual basis.

This change takes on added importance at a time when Apple is adapting several features of its ecosystem to European requirements and different approaches to privacy.

An iOS 27 with an emphasis on personalization

The first beta of iOS 27.2 shows that Apple is not limited to impressive changes, but is investing in small and larger improvements that affect everyday use. From updated Health and Siri capabilities to Apple TV profiles, FaceTime accessibility and CarPlay Ultra personalization, the new version gradually expands the role of the iPhone as the centerpiece of the ecosystem.

As this is a beta version, some of the features shown here may change or move before the final release, but this version already gives a clear picture of the direction Apple is taking: more personalization, stronger AI integration, a greater focus on health, and more accessibility and control options for the user.
