Apple continues to enrich iOS 27 with small but practical features that aim to make the iPhone smarter in everyday use. The first beta of iOS 27.2, which was released to developers, brings a new addition to Call Context, thanks to which the iPhone can remind the user of a person's anniversary when trying to call them.
The new feature leverages information stored in the Contacts app . If the user has entered an anniversary date for a person, the system can display a reminder when a call is made to that contact on the anniversary day.
A reminder just when you need it
The logic behind the feature is pretty simple. If, for example, you have saved the date of an important anniversary in the contact card of a friend, relative, or partner, iPhone can notify you about it when you go to call them on that day.

This way, the information appears in the appropriate time frame, rather than just being stored in a contact and waiting for the user to remember it. This is a feature that is part of Apple's overall effort to leverage the data already on the device to provide more useful and relevant information.
The reminder is not accompanied, at least in the current beta, by any special animation. This is a difference compared to the corresponding function for birthdays.
What is Call Context?
The new option is an extension of Call Context, a feature that made its appearance with iOS 27. Its philosophy is to show the user relevant information from different sources when making a phone call.
A typical example is airlines. If someone calls an airline and there is a message in Mail that includes a flight confirmation number, the iPhone can display that information during the process. This way, the user doesn't have to leave the phone app and manually search for the relevant email.
This approach shows a broader direction for Apple: the iPhone is no longer limited to executing a command, but attempts to connect information from different parts of the operating system when it can be useful.
From birthdays to anniversaries
In iOS 27, Call Context already gained support for birthdays. When a call is made to a contact whose birthday is coming up, the iPhone can display a notification ,accompanied by a fireworks animation.
With iOS 27.2, Apple extends the same logic to anniversaries. The absence of a new animation may seem like a small detail, but the real change lies in the ability to recognize more important dates from contacts.

How do you add an anniversary to a contact?
To take advantage of the new feature, someone must first have saved the date to the corresponding contact. The process is done directly from the app Contacts.
After opening the contact you are interested in, select Edit and then the option to add a date. From the relevant category, you can select "Anniversary" and enter the date.
From there, Call Context can use the stored information when the specific day arrives. This means that a separate reminder app is not required for this specific use.
Siri can take over the registration
For those with a device that supports Apple Intelligence, there's another way to enter the date. The user can ask Siri AI to add the anniversary to a specific person's contact card.
This feature is part of Apple's larger effort to make Siri more useful for performing actions within the operating system. Instead of the user having to navigate between menus and apps, they can give a physical command and the system will take the corresponding action, where supported.

Small function, practical difference
The anniversary reminder may not be one of the most impressive additions in iOS 27.2, but it highlights how Apple is trying to make the iPhone more useful without requiring constant interaction from the user.
The interest lies mainly in the context-aware operating model: the device utilizes information that has already been registered and displays it when it considers it relevant to what the user is doing at that moment.
iOS 27.2 is still in beta, so the final behavior of the feature may change before it's released to the public. Based on current plans, the new version is expected to be released in October, bringing with it not only this reminder, but also a number of other changes to Apple's ecosystem.
