GTA VI soundtrack: 34 brand new tracks

Rockstar Games has officially revealed the soundtrack for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI), confirming once again that music will be an integral part of the experience it is preparing for the new chapter of the popular series. The album, titled “Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album”, will include a total of 34 brand new and original songs, many of which are expected to connect with the world and atmosphere of the game.

The announcement comes a few days after the first teasers about the soundtrack of GTA VI, while six singles are already available, offering a first glimpse of the range of artists and musical genres that players will encounter.

Six singles give the first sample

Rockstar chose to start the album presentation with six songs, featuring some very well-known names from the international music scene. Their choice shows that the company is not limited to a specific genre, but is attempting to create a multi-faceted soundtrack that fits the diverse character of GTA VI.

Music as part of the world of GTA VI

In the Grand Theft Auto games, music is not just background music. The radio stations, song choices, and their hosts have long served as part of each game's identity, often commenting on the era, society, and world in which the player moves.

With GTA VI, Rockstar seems to be looking to expand on this philosophy even further. The new album's original songs could serve as another way to create an identity for the areas, characters, and stories the player will encounter.

Music takes on a greater importance in a game where exploring a vast open world is a key part of the experience. A car ride, a night out, or a chase can take on a different rhythm depending on the song playing at the time.

From Keith Richards to Travis Scott

The coexistence of names like Keith Richards and Travis Scott on the same project is indicative of Rockstar's approach. The former represents a different era of rock music, while the latter is at the core of modern hip-hop and pop culture.

Meanwhile, the inclusion of artists such as Future, Metro Boomin, PinkPantheress, Fred again.. and Rauw Alejandro further broadens the musical spectrum. This is expected to allow the soundtrack to accompany different moments of the game without being limited to a single aesthetic.

Of particular interest is the production of “RHYNO” by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, known for his contributions to Daft Punk. This collaboration adds another electronic element to the musical identity of the upcoming title.

Streaming, CD and vinyl

Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album won't be limited to digital distribution. Rockstar has planned to release it on major streaming services, as well as on CD and vinyl.

The release date is set for November 19th, the same day as the release of GTA VI. The simultaneous release of the game and soundtrack shows that the music is an integral part of the overall launch and not a simple companion product.

For collectors, the physical vinyl edition gains additional interest, especially if Rockstar chooses to give the album a distinct aesthetic that ties into the game's world.

Rockstar raises the anticipation again

The soundtrack announcement comes at a time when interest in GTA VI is already at an all-time high. Last month, Rockstar released an preview gameplay, which was first released on Netflix before being made available on YouTube.

Every new piece of information about the game has become a major event for the industry, showing the enormous weight the title has gained before it even releases. The interest is such that several major publishers have adjusted their release schedules, avoiding a direct clash with the new Grand Theft Auto.

GTA VI has now evolved from just another big video game into one of the most important entertainment launches of recent years. Rockstar seems to be capitalizing on this anticipation gradually, revealing a different part of the production each time.

With the 34-song, the company is adding another important piece to the puzzle. And if the first six singles are any indication, the musical side of GTA VI is expected to be just as powerful as the game's vast open world, characters, and story.
