“ X is deprecating Circles as of October 31, 2023. After that date, you will not be able to create new posts that are limited to your Circle, nor will you be able to add people to your Circle. However, you will be able to remove people by unfollowing them as described below ,” X said on its support page
The company will allow users to read their historical posts on Circle even after the deadline has passed.
Twitter first introduced the Circle feature in August 2022, after a few months of beta testing. It allowed users to add up to 150 people to their Circle. Each user was only allowed to create one Circle.

Recently, users began noticing that their Circle posts were missing the green flag, leading them to believe that the post was showing up for all of followers . In fact, in April, some users reported that some of their Circle posts were actually starting to appear on other people’s For You algorithmic timelines. In May, the company confirmed the bug as a “incident security” that allowed “users outside of your Twitter Circle” to see the posts.

The end of Twitter’s Circle feature may come as a disappointment to many users who have invested time in building their personal “circle.” However, this change highlights the ongoing evolution of social media and the need for constant adaptation. Social networks are constantly looking at new ways to increase engagement and respond to changing user preferences. It’s likely that we’ll see Twitter experiment with new features in the future, adapting their platform to the ever-changing needs of their user.
