WhatsApp: Voice message transcription arrives on Android

More than a year after launching voice message transcription on iOS, WhatsApp is finally bringing the feature to Android.

WhatsApp voice message transcription

The feature is now live for some users in WhatsApp beta version 2.24.15.5 . If you're part of the beta program and see the feature, simply go to the Chats option in the app's settings to enable it.

Some beta testers can already enable the transcription feature for both incoming and outgoing voicemails. To use it, you'll need to download an additional data package to ensure your privacy.

In fact, these voice transcriptions are created directly on device , so no one else can hear your voice notes or read the transcriptions. Currently, you can choose from language data packs such as English, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian , and Hindi.

The iOS version already supports more languages, so more languages ​​will likely be added to the Android version in the future. WhatsApp hasn't shared any details about the release yet, but we expect the feature to roll out to the stable channel in the coming weeks.
