The news that the Apple Podcasts app would be available for Tesla drivers was previously leaked. However, previous leaks that said AirPlay would be coming have yet to prove true. Now, Tesla has confirmed the Apple Podcasts update with an official announcement on Twitter/X.
This is a significant step, as Tesla does not support Apple CarPlay. So, this is the first time a basic CarPlay has made an appearance in a Tesla infotainment system.
Tesla only says the 2023 holiday update will be released next week, but employees are reportedly already installing it, so the lack of a specific date is likely due to the need to roll it out globally to a large number of users.
All users will receive this holiday update, but that doesn't mean all Tesla drivers will get the Apple Podcasts app. To listen to any streaming service, including Apple Podcasts, drivers must pay Tesla an additional $10 per month.
