Google Maps helps you find compatible EV stations

EV

Google Maps has long provided information about EV charging stations for cars, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the stations you see on your screen are the right ones for your vehicle. And if the station you see nearby isn't compatible with your car, it can be a problem when your battery is already low .

But that seems to be changing now, as Google will now show EV charging stations in its navigation app. The tech giant recently updated Google Maps for Android devices (it's unclear if iOS devices have also received the update) to show charging stations that are compatible with the vehicle the driver is consulting the app with. For example, if a car owner needs a CHAdeMO station and doesn't have an adapter, they'll be able to see exactly where they can find one.

There is also a new “electric vehicle setting” in the app’s settings, which drivers will be able to use to adjust their plug preferences.

This particular separation is not of course a privilege of Google Maps, as many other navigation applications also have this feature. However, this update will bring this feature to a much wider range of users. In fact, it is almost certain that additions like this will be very useful in the future. Car manufacturers will convert more and more of their vehicle lines to electric in the coming years, so it is most likely that every driver will want to have an application that offers them all the necessary tools and information to never run out of energy.
