Did you know that Microsoft has a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Screensaver?

The Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) has become a symbol of Windows, especially when referring to older versions of the operating system.

The only sure thing is that a BSOD is quite irritating for the user.

But did you know that Microsoft allows you to create a screensaver that looks like a blue screen? Let's face it, the company's offer is pretty good for those who want to play pranks!

The reason for the BlueScreen Screensaver, which Microsoft bought from Winternals.BSOD

A few words about the BlueScreen Screensaver…

Created by Mark Russinovich. It provides support for Windows 95, 98, 2000, XP and Windows Server 2003, and for any version that has a native copy of the BSOD.

Even though using it on a modern system (Windows 8, Windows 10) doesn't make much sense since Microsoft has changed the design in these versions, the Screensaver comes with options that you cannot find in other similar applications. One of these is the ability to read information from the system about errors that occur in the hardware.

As for the BSOD, its design has evolved considerably and it has also acquired a green variant. The Green Screen of Death (GSOD) is used by Microsoft in preview builds of Windows 10 updates in order to determine whether or not there is an error in new versions of the operating system. At the moment, only participants of the Windows Insider program have the opportunity to use it.

The good news: the appearance of a BSOD is quite rare, as Microsoft spends a considerable amount of time fixing various bugs before releasing new software or updates.
