Always Connected PCs: Strong battery life

Windows 10 on ARM is finally ready to power a new generation of devices that Microsoft calls “Always Connected PCs” that are capable of delivering long battery life.

As part of a partnership with Qualcomm, the Always Connected PCs are powered by Snapdragon processors and run on Windows 10 S, the newest version of the desktop operating system that is limited to Windows Store apps.Always Connected PCs

Microsoft says this new generation of computers is “instant, always connected, and with incredible battery life” offering up to a week of battery life per charge. They’re likely referring to standby time, as manufacturers that have already tested the new technology are offering around 22 hours of active use.

Always Connected PCs are aimed at both organizations and consumers who need long battery life and heavy Windows 10 usage.

Some of the companies using Always Connected PCs include HP, Lenovo, and ASUS. All of them are equipped with Snapdragon 835 processors, which also power high-end phones like the Samsung Galaxy S8.

With Windows 10 on ARM and Windows 10 S, Always Connected PCs provide an experience that's pretty much the same as a Windows 10 laptop. Note that 64-bit apps aren't supported yet. The laptops should instantly power on and sleep when you close the lid, offering a seamless experience with LTE connectivity available at all times.

Microsoft seems very confident about the future of its Always Connected PCs, given its collaboration with major manufacturers.
