This decision is no coincidence, as the region cites better reliability, lower costs, and better performance as the main reasons for the change.
The district’s board of trustees has approved a four-year, $11.19 million lease to upgrade its technology ecosystem. As part of the agreement, the school district will provide 14,585 Apple devices to teachers and students in K-12. The new initiative includes more than 4,000 iPads for students in K-12 and 9,500 MacBook Neos for students in K-12.
In addition, the region has made 1,000 MacBook Neo to teachers, thus strengthening the technological infrastructure of the educational process.
The decision to replace Chromebooks with Apple devices was not an easy one. The district conducted a detailed comparison between the MacBook Neo and products from Lenovo and Asus. Ultimately, it concluded that the MacBook Neo offered the strongest performance and reliability among the devices evaluated. Reliability is a critical factor, given that these devices will be used daily by students and teachers, and the durability of Apple devices is widely considered to exceed that of its competitors.

Additionally, Apple’s financing terms proved more favorable to the district. Access to AppleCare, which offers extended support and repairs, also influenced the decision. The district said the Lenovo model had a minimum financing rate of 4 percent, higher four-year costs, and a guaranteed buyback value of just $10 per device. On the other hand, the Asus model, while competitively priced and meeting educational needs, cost more over the four years. In addition, the plastic parts of the Asus model would require more repairs, increasing the overall maintenance cost.
This decision by the Beaumont School District has significant implications for students and teachers. Using iPad and MacBook Neo can enhance the educational experience by providing access to a wealth of educational apps and resources available in the Apple ecosystem. Students will be able to develop future-proof skills, such as coding and creative thinking, through tools like Swift Playgrounds and other educational apps.
For educators, switching to Apple devices means they have tools at their disposal that can enhance their teaching and make it easier to communicate with students. Apple's platform also offers capabilities for creating personalized lessons and tracking student progress in real time.
This investment is not just a technological upgrade, but also a strategic move to improve the educational process and learning experience. Beaumont District’s decision to invest in iPad and MacBook Neo reflects a broader trend seen in many school districts worldwide that recognize the value of Apple technology in education.
