PlayStation Plus: October's free games

Sony has revealed the new games coming to PlayStation Plus for October, combining fast-paced racing, intense action and cooperative battles against hordes of enemies. The new additions span a range of game genres, giving PlayStation owners the choice between competitive matches and experiences they can enjoy with friends.

PlayStation Plus: October's free games

The games will be available from October 6 to November 2, while subscribers should add the September selections to their collection by October 5, if they haven't already.

The new list includes F1 25 for PS5, Hunt: Showdown 1896 for PS5, and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 for PS5 and PS4.

F1 25: Racing action with official Formula 1 content

F1 25 is the main name of the monthly selection, aimed mainly at fans of motor sports and demanding racing games. It is the official game of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship, offering players the opportunity to get behind the wheel of single-seaters and participate in racing matches.

The title includes features such as Career Mode, in which players can carve their own path in the world of Formula 1, as well as the revamped My Team 2.0. This mode places a greater emphasis on managing a racing team, combining off-track decisions with the pursuit of better results in the races.

Meanwhile, online options allow you to compete against other players, adding a competitive edge to the experience. Tire management, pit stop strategy, weather conditions and decisions made during a Grand Prix are all elements that can influence the outcome of a race.

For those who own a PS5 and are interested in racing games, the addition of F1 25 offers an opportunity to try a modern title in the series through their subscription.

Hunt: Showdown 1896: Survival, monsters and rival Hunters

The second option, Hunt: Showdown 1896, is aimed at those who prefer a more tense and tactical shooter experience. The title combines elements of survival games and extraction shooters, placing players in a dangerous environment where they are called upon to face both supernatural monsters and rival groups of hunters.

Matches can be played individually or in teams of up to three players. Success depends not only on shooting accuracy, but also on careful movement, use of the environment and decision-making under pressure.

The extraction element is crucial: players must complete their objectives and escape with what they have acquired. The presence of other Hunters means that even a seemingly successful mission can turn into a dangerous conflict.

Hunt: Showdown 1896 thus offers a different approach compared to more traditional shooters, emphasizing tension, teamwork, and strategy.

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2: Cooperation against alien threats

The trilogy is completed with Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2, which is available for both PS5 and PS4. In contrast to the darker tone of Hunt: Showdown 1896, the game adopts a lighter, more colorful aesthetic, based on voxel-style graphics.

Players take on formidable threats and enemy forces in fast-paced, action-packed battles. The game supports online co-op up to four-player, allowing friends to join forces, and offers local split-screen for two.

The local play feature is a particularly useful option for those who want to play together in the same room, without each participant needing a separate console. At the same time, the cooperative structure encourages coordination and the selection of different characters or roles, depending on the requirements of each mission.

Supporting both PS4 and PS5 also broadens the audience that can access the title.

PlayStation Plus: When will the games be available?

PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to add the three games to their collection from October 6 to November 2.As with the service's monthly games, adding them to their account during their availability allows subscribers to keep them in their library for as long as they have the required subscription active.

Those interested should also remember that the deadline for September's games ends on October 5.Those who haven't already added them to their account can do so before the monthly offer changes.

October's selection covers three different preferences: racing driving with F1 25, tactical survival matches with Hunt: Showdown 1896, and cooperative action with Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2. Thus, subscribers have the opportunity to try different types of games through the same monthly offer, depending on the console they have and their preferred play style.
