The Korean automaker's investment in electric vehicles is paying off. After launching several new models, Kia now offers an electric vehicle for almost every consumer. This strategy has allowed the company to cover a wide range of needs and preferences, from affordable models to luxury SUVs, thereby strengthening its presence in the market.

According to the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), Kia has achieved 377,078 registrations between January and August 2026, an increase of 9% compared to the same period last year. This growth exceeds the total EU+EFTA+UK passenger car market, which grew by 5.8% in the first eight months of 2026. This highlights Kia’s ability to adapt and innovate in a competitive market, offering products that meet modern demands.

Kia’s market share reached 4.1% by August, placing the brand in ninth place overall. Sjoerd Knipping, CEO of Kia Europe, attributes this “outstanding performance” to having “one of the broadest and most advanced electrified ranges in Europe.” Kia’s strategy of investing in cutting-edge technologies and offering a variety of choices to consumers has proven successful as the market increasingly shifts towards electric vehicles.

With electric vehicle registrations up 58% year-on-year through August, Kia now holds 4.8% of the European electric vehicle market, ranking seventh overall. The brand has seen particularly strong demand in key markets such as France (+120%), Germany (+112%), the UK (+66%), Spain (+60%) and Italy (+41%). These markets are strategic for Kia, as increased demand in these countries strengthens its European presence and contributes to achieving its sustainable growth goals.

The EV3 remains one of Kia’s most popular electric vehicles, while newer models such as the EV2, EV4 and EV5 have also contributed to the growth. Kia’s electric vehicle range now includes the EV2, EV3, EV4, EV5, EV6 and EV9, as well as the PV5 van. This variety of models allows Kia to meet different needs, from small city cars to larger family vehicles, and appeal to a wide range of consumers.

The EV2 joins the EV4 as the second all-electric vehicle produced at Kia’s Slovakia plant. While Kia has no plans to bring the EV2 to the U.S. market, the EV3 is already available for sale. Kia sold just over 500 EV3s in the U.S. in its first full month of sales. After another record-breaking quarter, Kia is on track to achieve its fourth consecutive year of record sales in the U.S.
