Apple continues to innovate with its latest addition to its product ecosystem, the iPhone Duo, which comes with the new iOS 27.One of its most talked-about features is StandBy mode, which activates even when the iPhone is not charging. This feature was initially shown in Apple press material, but recently, well-known leaker pdfu revealed more details about the options it offers.

The StandBy feature on the iPhone Duo offers multiple views, five of which were previously unknown. One of these is the Home Camera, which allows you to watch a single camera feed or a grid of up to nine camera feeds. This feature is especially useful for those who have security cameras installed in their home and want to have instant access to them.
Additionally, there is the Home Modular option, which will likely allow for control of smart home devices. This feature integrates with Apple’s HomeKit capabilities, allowing users to control lights, thermostats, and other devices directly from the iPhone Duo. Another interesting addition is the Snoopy-themed display, which offers a more playful and fun user experience.
The Rushmore app , which is intended to host these redesigned views, is not yet available in the iOS 27.1 simulator. However, the app's localization strings reveal unpublished views, and pdfu was able to run a few new views in the current renderer. These views include the Flow view, which may feature animations, and the Fade view, for which no details are yet available.

The views we've seen in marketing materials include Analog, Digital, Classic Calendar, Weather, Photos, Memories, Shared Albums , and Modular. The view editor will allow users to customize the StandBy interface, choosing different styles and colors, similar to the existing iPhone StandBy customization screens. Swipe gestures are available for quick visual adjustments, making the user experience more flexible and adaptable to the needs of each user.
Additionally, there are five widget layouts to choose from for clock views that support widgets. The layouts include StandBy, Stacked, Top, Middle, and Bottom, giving users the ability to organize their information in the way that best suits them.

The iPhone Duo is expected to be available for pre-order on October 16, ahead of its release on October 23. As we get closer to the release date, we’ll likely see more details revealed as Apple continues to delight users with its innovations.
