Santa Monica Studio has revealed new information about God of War: Laufey, the next chapter in the popular series, which will be released exclusively for PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027.This time, the focus of the adventure shifts to Faye, also known as Laufey, with the game presenting a different chapter in the God of War universe.

The studio also announced that pre-orders will begin on September 29th at 10:00 AM local time. Those interested will be able to choose between the available versions of the game, while those who secure their copy before release will receive additional digital content.
The new announcement, however, focuses not only on the editions and pre-order bonuses, but also on the combat system. The Serpent Bow, Faye's enchanted bow, is expected to play a significant role, offering different attack options and greater flexibility in encounters.
When do pre-orders start and what do the bonuses include?
Pre-orders for God of War: Laufey will open on September 29th, giving players the opportunity to secure the game several months before its official release.

Those who pre-order any edition will receive the Last Wish Armor Set, an appearance called the Phranque Golden Leaves Appearance, as well as a resource pack that they can use in-game.
These additional items offer additional customization options and useful material for the progression of the adventure. As is often the case with special pre-order offers, this content is primarily aimed at those who want to start the game with additional equipment and resources already at their disposal.
God of War: Laufey – What the Digital Deluxe Edition offers
For those who want more digital content, there will also be a Digital Deluxe Edition, which will include additional items that are not limited exclusively to the appearance of the protagonist.
Specifically, this edition will offer the Dark Alchemy Armor Set, along with the Dark Alchemy Blade, Bow Scales, and Catalyst. The package also includes an additional set of resources, a digital mini artbook, and the game's official soundtrack.
This content is aimed both at players interested in more aesthetic customization options and at those who want to explore the artistic identity of the new production through the accompanying material.
The different versions thus give the option to choose between the standard experience and a more complete digital package, without pre-order bonuses being limited only to those who purchase the more expensive version.
Serpent Bow: A bow with different combat functions
The most important element of the new presentation concerns the Serpent Bow, an enchanted weapon that changes shape like a snake and allows Faye to integrate arrow attacks into the overall combat strategy.

The bow's operating system is based on how the player pulls the trigger. A full pull activates the Full-aim mode, which offers greater accuracy and increased range. Through this option, Faye can target specific points on opponents, affecting their mobility or ability to attack.
This allows for more tactical approaches. Instead of relying solely on close-range attacks, the player can weaken or restrain enemies from a distance and then move in to complete the attack.
Additionally, Faye will be able to charge up to five arrows at once, firing them in a combo attack. This ability becomes especially important when combined with Phranque to launch opponents into the air, creating opportunities for consecutive hits.

Hip-fire and attack combinations
When the trigger is only pulled halfway , Hip-fire mode is activated . In this case, Faye can fire rapid shots at close range, prioritizing speed and instant reaction over long-range accuracy.
The high rate of fire also allows enemies to be kept in the air, making it easier to create longer combos. Players will be able to quickly switch between the bow and other weapons and abilities, combining different attacks without necessarily interrupting the flow of combat.
There will also be different types of arrows, designed for quick attacks, explosive strikes, or dealing damage to multiple targets at once. This means that choosing the right arrow type can significantly affect how you approach each encounter.
Weapon, armor and magic customization
The Serpent Bow will support different Scales, which will alter the weapon's appearance and provide distinct advantages in combat. This way, players will be able to customize their equipment to suit their preferences and playstyle.
Similar capabilities will exist for Faye's armor, her sword blade, and Catalysts, powerful items that harness the magic of the mysterious Everywhen.

These options are expected to offer greater variety in character development and the formation of different strategies. The interest will lie in how the individual improvements will be combined, allowing players to emphasize speed, accuracy or magical abilities.
Set for release on February 16, 2027, God of War: Laufey attempts to diversify the series' familiar formula with a new protagonist and a combat system based on weapon switching, targeting, and attack combinations. Pre-orders on September 29 will be the next major milestone until the PlayStation 5 exclusive launches.
