Neo wireless headphones that convert into a Bluetooth speaker are now available

The Neo headphones from Tomorrow Doesn't Matter (TDM) bring a new dimension to music listening, making it easier than ever to share your music without having others wear your headphones. After debuting at CES 2026 and a successful Kickstarter campaign last February, the Neo headphones are now available in the United States.

Unlike Sony, which recently chose to bring back a headphone design from six years ago, TDM's Neos offer truly unique functionality through a flexible headband and additional drivers, allowing them to be rolled up and used as a Bluetooth speaker.

The innovation of the Neo headphones lies in their design, which allows them to be easily converted from personal headphones to portable speakers. Instead of using earpieces that rotate 180 degrees to project sound outward, the Neos feature a pair of 40mm drivers inside each earpiece and an additional pair of 40mm drivers on the outside. When worn as traditional headphones, only the inner drivers are active, but when rolled up, the Neos’ outer drivers act as a pair of 5-watt speakers.

This feature offers users the flexibility to enjoy their music in different ways, depending on their needs.

The Neo headphones are now available through TDM’s online store and at retailers like Amazon and Walmart for $249, in black or white, and come with a carrying case. Their price puts the Neo in the premium headphone category, but their unique functionality and build quality justify the cost. TDM claims that when used as headphones, the Neo offers over 200 hours of listening time, and both the battery and memory foam ear cushions are removable and replaceable.

This feature not only extends the lifespan of the headphones, but also offers users the ability to customize the comfort and performance of their headphones.

In Bluetooth speaker mode, the estimated battery life is significantly reduced to approximately 16 hours. However, this duration can be extended if the audio source does not support Bluetooth and is instead connected to the Neo using a 3.5mm audio cable. This connection option offers users greater flexibility and can prove particularly useful in situations where wireless connection is not possible or desired.

John Higgins had the chance to test the Neo at CES 2026. While he found them a bit too bass-heavy and physically heavy due to the extra speaker hardware, he thought the headphones sounded good with a design that was easy and fun to slip on. Higgins' report highlights the balance the Neo strikes between innovation and practicality, offering a unique listening experience.

The launch of Neo headphones marks a significant evolution in the wireless headphone category, offering users the ability to enjoy their music in new and exciting ways. The ability to transform the headphones into a Bluetooth speaker opens up new possibilities for sharing music, making Neo ideal for social gatherings or simply for personal enjoyment in different environments.
