Last month, the popular Popcorn Time was shut down as some of the site's core developers faced lawsuits in Canada. The MPAA claimed it had achieved one of the biggest anti-piracy victories in recent history, but its victory was likely temporary.
According to a post on Reddit, one of the original developers of the app is preparing a new upgraded app. His effort has reportedly been crowned with success, as a fully functional version has already been released via Reddit.
The stable version uses new APIs and thus it is possible to watch movies and TV shows without needing the YTS website as a provider.
Updating the app's code via Reddit is just the beginning.
The people responsible for VPN.ht, the VPN service (created by some of the developers of Popcorn Time), also informed the public that a new updated version of the streaming application is being prepared.
Popcorn Time developer Wally, who also runs the VPN.ht service, told TorrentFreak that Popcorn Time will be back.
"I am still considering a full comeback, I just don't want to release a half working version," said Wally.
This of course shows that nothing is over and the MPAA probably celebrated its victory too quickly..
