ChatGPT is testing the “Study Together” feature

OpenAI's Study together feature is here and could help students prepare for exams directly through ChatGPT.

ChatGPT Study Together

We don't have all the details yet, but the first reports of Study Mode appeared in May, and testers noticed its wider rollout earlier.

The “Study Together” feature, which is currently not active , may allow students to either invite friends to study together via ChatGPT or use artificial intelligence as a study companion. We don’t know exactly how it works yet, but it could bring changes to the education space .

The “Study Together” feature isn’t the only new feature being tested in ChatGPT. OpenAI is also testing new connectors for GPT Search and Deep Research.

One of the upcoming connections is with Slack, allowing ChatGPT Deep Research to pull data from Slack messages and use it as a framework in its research.

OpenAI has been tight-lipped about its plans for ChatGPT, but we do know that GPT-5, which could be a major moment for the company as it faces challenges in its partnership with Microsoft and competition from Meta.

The potential integration of the “Study Together” feature into ChatGPT clearly shows OpenAI’s direction towards more interactive and collaborative educational tools. If this feature allows students to collaborate in real time with friends or have an “intelligent study companion,” then it could reshape the study process, especially for distance or self-directed learning.
