Anthropic's artificial intelligence gets its own blog

A week ago, Anthropic quietly launched Claude Explains, a new blog on its website powered primarily by the company’s Claude family of AI models. The page features technical related to various uses of Claude (e.g., “Simplifying Complex Code with Claude”) and aims to showcase the model’s authoring abilities.

It’s not entirely clear how much of the original content Claude produces ultimately makes it into Claude Explains posts. According to a company spokesperson, the blog is curated by Anthropic’s “subject matter experts and editorial teams,” who “enrich” Claude’s drafts with “insights, practical examples, and […] relevant context.”

Anthropic says it sees Claude Explains as a “demonstration of how human expertise and AI capabilities can work together,” starting with educational content. Anthropic’s experiment with AI-generated content comes just months after competitor OpenAI it had developed a model specifically designed for creative writing—and it’s hardly the first of its kind.

Meta's Mark Zuckerberg has said he wants to develop a fully automated advertising tool based on artificial intelligence, while OpenAI CEO Sam Altmanrecently predicted that artificial intelligence could one day take on "95% of the work that marketers currently use advertising agencies, strategists, and creative professionals."

In other cases, publishers have experimented with AI-powered journalism tools, seeking to increase productivity and, in some cases, reduce the need for new hires. Gannett has been particularly zealous, publishing AI-generated sports reviews and summaries under relevant headlines. Bloomberg integrated AI-generated summaries at the top of its articles in April. And Business Insider, which laid off 21% of its staff last week, is encouraging editors to leverage AI-powered tools.

Anthropic's spokesperson noted that the company continues to hire in areas such as marketing, content, copyediting, and "many other areas that involve writing," despite the fact that it has begun using artificial intelligence to write blog posts.
