Street Fighter 6 Director Takayuki Nakayama believes fans will be very surprised by the Season 2 roster.
Akuma was released alongside the Season 2 update for Street Fighter 6 a few weeks ago. Needless to say, it's time to start talking about the Season 2 roster .

At the moment, we know almost nothing about the DLC characters that will be released after Rashid, AKI, Ed , and Akuma. Although Director Takayuki Nakayama and the rest of the development team have remained fairly quiet about Season 2, Nakayama has released a few tidbits of information.
Recently, Takayuki Nakayama sat down for an interview with Famitsu, the major Japanese publishing house that reviews and previews all video games released in Japan.

“I'm sure when you see them, you'll be surprised enough to say 'Huh?! What are you doing?!'” – Takayuki Nakayama
At the end of the interview, Famitsu asked Nakayama how he felt entering the second year of Street Fighter 6. Of course, the topic on everyone's mind right now is the Season 2 roster.
"Finally, give me your thoughts on the game's second year," Famitsu stated.
“Thank you for continuing to play all this time, games are made to be played, so we will do our best to continue developing the game so that you can have as much fun as possible,” Nakayama replied.
"For now, we will refrain from any revelations regarding Year 2 characters, but please wait for the official reveal," Nakayama continued.
It's worth noting that Nakayama said something similar recently in an interview with Game Informer. Specifically, he stated that Season 2 will include unexpected characters.

“Of course, I can’t make any specific comments yet, but I think you’ll find some unexpected characters,” Nakayama said at the time. It’s worth noting that Nakayama wasn’t even willing to talk about how the characters were chosen.
However, it seems that Nakayama's comments to Famitsu go a bit further than what he said to Game Informer. Not only will these characters be unexpected, but it also seems like their reveals will be both surprising and confusing for fans.
Notably, the logos for the Year 2 Character Pass and Year 2 Ultimate Pass were seemingly leaked, although they looked quite similar to the Year 1 Character Pass and Ultimate Pass logos. However, the fact that these are hidden within the Street Fighter 6 code suggests that Capcom could be preparing for a big announcement relatively soon.
Perhaps Street Fighter 6 fans can expect some pleasant surprises during the Summer Game Fest 2024 this week.
