Amazon Kindle new generation

The basic Kindle models, Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft, have undergone aesthetic and functional improvements. They are now one millimeter thinner, which gives a more elegant look, and 30% faster at opening books, improving the user experience. One significant change is the movement of the function buttons from the bottom to the right edge near the top, making them more ergonomic and easy to use.

The new models come in vibrant colors with a soft-touch plastic casing, and for the first time, an aluminum casing. This option offers a more premium look and feel, while also doubling the available storage from 16GB to 32GB, which will be especially appreciated by users who want to store larger libraries.

Amazon's Vice President of Kindle, Kevin Keith, said that all models feature -replaceable batteries user, based on EU regulations. This feature not only extends the lifespan of the devices but also reduces their environmental footprint, as users don't have to replace the entire device when the battery runs out.

The refreshed basic Kindle is available today starting at $149.99. It comes in a new purple color called ube and a more basic graphite. It has 16GB of storage and ads on the lock screen. The new design offers a seamless transition from the bezel to the screen, removing the old design with the screen recess, which improves the aesthetics and tactile feel.

The display specifications for the new Kindle Paperwhite and Colorsoft models remain unchanged, but the color options have expanded. The new plastic and aluminum colors cover the entire e-reader, not just the back. Keith attributes the success to a new technique of applying a black layer between the edges of the panel. This technique prevents the visual leakage of the case color onto the screen, maintaining clarity and sharpness of reading.
