According to DigiTimes, the latest news on the subject indicates that after reports that the iPhone Fold's launch will be delayed until mid-2027, some analysts now fear that Apple's foldable phone will never be released.
The doubt about the foldable iPhone is due to the potential inadequacy of the display technology – which supposedly means Apple will either have to cancel the phoneor continue to delay it until it is satisfied with the quality of the display.

Certainly, based on how long this phone has been rumored, it seems like Apple may be struggling to deliver it – and this wouldn’t be the first time the company has abandoned something after years of development. We recently saw the Apple Car scrapped, and before that the AirPower. Some reports have also suggested that Apple has abandoned its internal 5G modem project.

So there is precedent, and with the rumored release date of the iPhone Fold constantly being postponed, it seems increasingly likely that the device will never be released.
Those hoping for an iPhone Fold from Apple may still be in luck, as there are also talks of a foldable iPad, which could be released at some point, even if the foldable iPhone is canceled.
When it comes to phones, Apple is already in a dominant position, and while foldable phone sales are on the rise, they don't seem to pose a serious threat to the iPhone lineup right now. So, technical issues aside, a foldable iPhone may simply not be a priority for the company anymore.
