iOS 27.2 is coming soon with several new features for iPhone users, including Suggested Actions in Messages, a feature that allows the Messages to offer actions based on the context of conversations. This feature has the potential to change the way users interact with their conversations, making them more interactive and efficient.

If someone asks for a photo, Messages can suggest uploading it with a tap. If someone invites you to an event, Messages can suggest adding it to your Calendar app. These features are not only practical, but also indicative of the direction Apple is taking to incorporate more artificial intelligence into its everyday apps.
Suggested Actions in Messages first appeared in the iOS 27 beta but were removed in the final release. They’re now back in the iOS 27.2 beta, and there’s evidence that Apple is also adding granular manual controls over the one-tap action buttons, so users can toggle them on and off individually. This gives users more flexibility and control over the suggestions they receive, allowing them to tailor their experience to their personal needs.
Code explorer pdfu found the new controls in iOS 27.2 beta 3. A new settings screen provides separate toggles for Suggested Actions, including Add to Calendar, Add to Reminders, Add to Notes, Show on Maps, and Flights & Packages. This toggle approach allows users to enable only the suggestions they find useful, reducing clutter and improving efficiency.
There’s also a toggle for “Hide Unused Suggestions.” When enabled, unused suggestions will stop appearing in Messages after 30 days. Hidden suggestions can also be re-enabled by turning their individual switches off and on again, according to the screenshot shared by pdfu. This feature can help users keep the Messages app clean and organized, avoiding information overload.

Apple is working on detailed controls for Suggested Actions in Messages, based on the code in iOS 27.2 beta 3. In addition to Suggested Actions in Messages, iOS 27.2 includes a redesigned Apple Health app with new Insight and Longevity tabs. These tabs give users more insight into their health and longevity, enhancing the app’s ability to provide personalized advice and monitoring.
It also brings Siri AI to new languages, expanding the voice assistant's accessibility to more users worldwide. This is an important step for Apple, as multilingual support for Siri can enhance the user experience and attract more users in markets outside of English-speaking countries.
It was a surprise when Apple released a beta of iOS 27.2 before a beta of iOS 27.1, but that's because the company plans to release the iPhone Duo with iOS 27.1, and it likely wants to keep some of the iPhone Duo's features under wraps for a while longer. This strategy may be part of a broader effort by Apple to build excitement and anticipation around its new product.

The iPhone Duo will be released on October 23. Apple previously said that the new Siri AI languages in iOS 27.2 would be available in October, so it's possible that iOS 27.2 will be released shortly after the iPhone Duo's release date. This timing could indicate that Apple is planning a coordinated release to maximize exposure and adoption of its new technologies.
