AirPower , Apple 's unreleased charging mat , appears in yet - to-be-released images and videos.

The original project from 2017 suffered from overheating issues, with the AirPods Pro melting and blistering due to high temperatures. In 2019, Apple pulled the plug on AirPower due to issues with temperature control during charging. Rumors from leaker Kosutami reveal efforts to overcome the problems, but the result was unsuccessful. An interesting photo showing AirPower charging an Android is showing, hinting that the product was not limited to Apple devices.

User Kosutami tested an AirPower prototype with 15 charging coils, down from the redesigned 2017 model with 21 coils. The lack of coils caused gaps in the cushion's cover, causing it to overheat and fail. It's extremely rare to get a look at an unreleased Apple product like this. This one is even rarer because it reveals the real damage that early AirPower prototypes could do.

Based on this evidence, it seems that Apple justifiably decided to abandon the project, regardless of its lofty ambitions.
