Microsoft isgetting ready to take another big step forward with Windows 10, as it is set to release its second feature update for 2019 sometime this week. However, it is a minor upgradecompared to the company's previous efforts.
Windows 10 19H2 (also known as version 1909), is rolling out to Insiders in the Release Preview ring and has appeared in WSUS – Windows Server Update Services.
According to Windows Latest, this latest development means that the RTM build, while there is also a rumor circulating that the 19H2 update is ready to launch.
Another determining factor is that Microsoft is preparing a big event on Wednesday, October 2, where it is expected to present several new Surface – so it is very likely that it will also present the new update and start its release the next day (or Friday).
We don't know for sure of course, but everything seems very well organized and the chances are high.
Of course, no one is too excited about Windows 10 version 1909 because, as mentioned, it doesn't introduce any major new features - it's more like a package of old services that have received various improvements.
That said, there are some interesting introductions to Windows 10 19H2 that may not be major features, but they are certainly noteworthy.
Such as longer battery life on laptops running certain processors and a potential performance boost for CPUs that have multiple “favored” cores (with any workload being better distributed to those cores, so each task will run a little faster).
Microsoft is also introducing the ability for third-party digital assistants, such as Amazon 's Alexa , to be activated via voice directly from the Windows 10 lock screen.
