Microsoft recently updated its support page , informing its users about the issues they are facing in Windows 10 , and specifically with the CPU, after the release of the update KB4512941 on August 30.
Some users have reported high CPU usage after installing the latest update and some results not showing up in Windows Search. Microsoft says these issues are related to SearchUI.exe and only occur to users who have disabled web searching using Windows Search.
The company is already working on a fix and an updated version is expected to be released in mid-September.
The funny thing is that KB4512941 is an update that was released specifically to prevent excessive CPU usage when a user switches between applications, and it is not a security update. Since it is an optional update, it was not automatically installed on all Windows 10 devices and thus did not affect a large number of users.
Other issues addressed by the updateinclude preventing blank tiles from appearing in the Start menu, fixing Spatial Audio issues in games, fixing the black screen that appears during Remote Desktop connections, etc.
High CPU usage is a common problem for many Windows users. But apart from the KB4512941 update, there are many other reasons that can cause high CPU usage on a machine, and one of them is the ntoskrnl.exe process in Windows 10.
