Apple fans around the world are eagerly awaiting WWDC 2018. At the highly anticipated World Wide Developer Conference, Apple showcases software developments and develops new technologies for developers to help them create innovative applications.
The event focuses mainly on software, but there are many times when Apple has taken the opportunity to present its devices as well.
This year, WWDC 2018 kicks off on June 4, at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California.
What to expect from Apple at WWDC 2018
Although the event is largely focused on the development of software updates for iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, Apple Watch, and Apple TV, we can expect other announcements regarding:
iOS 12
iOS 12 is the confirmed announcement that Apple will make at this event. It is believed that the new version of the iPhonewill focus on achieving more qualitative and less quantitative changes.
macOS 10.14
Apple may be introducing a new software version, however there has been no speculation regarding the name of the update.
MacBook Pro
The conference could be used to unveil a refreshed MacBook Pro model that will be based on Intel's newest 8th generation processors.
watchOS 5
Rumors of a new WatchOS are few and far between, but it is expected that the new operating system will come with the option to add a new Watch face and Apple will bring facial recognition technology to the watch.
tvOS 12
Apple released tvOS 11.4 yesterday which brings AirPlay 2 with multi-room audio support, so WWDC 2018 can be used to showcase its new features.
iPhone SE 2
Rumors about a new iPhone model with a 4-inch display (possibly called the iPhone SE 2) are rife. It could be the successor to the iPhone SE and could also feature an A10 Fusion Chip, for people looking for a cheaper alternative to the iPhone X.
iPad Pro
Since the iPad Pro model wasn't revealed at this year's Apple event in Chicago, it's possible that the iPad Pro could be announced at WWDC 2018. The rumored iPad will feature FaceID and have a bezel-less display.
Siri
Apple has lagged behind in developing its smart assistant, with Google and Amazon equipping theirs with intuitive features. Siri could get a significant boost in functionality to compete with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
AirPower
Apple is expected to announce the launch date and price of AirPower, a wireless charger that was introduced alongside the iPhone X.
Apple has created an official WWDC, so you can see the schedule of events taking place at the event.
