Laptop Mode: Extend your laptop's battery life

users Linux complete power over their laptop both in terms of saving and using power battery.

Laptop Mode Tools is essentially a kernel “mode” that allows users to extend the battery life of their laptop, through optimizing the operation of the hard drive.

The battery is perhaps the most valuable asset for laptop users. There aren't many times when we try to preserve every trace of energy in order to accomplish something important, often checking our battery indicator to make sure we won't run out.

Laptop Mode Tools comes to provide the solution, being a tool for the Linux platform that will help us manage our device's power better. However, given that it is mainly used via terminal, its handling by simple or novice users becomes difficult, and the available graphical environment is not the most user‑friendly.

To install this specific tool you can use the Ubuntu Software Center, which provides you the ability to install some additional packages, and more specifically a package for settings on Ethernet devices and another package “Advanced Power Management” (APM).
