For the first time, Android reaches a global market share of more than 80%, according to data from IDC, published in its Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker.
The figures refer to smartphone shipments worldwide in the third quarter of the year, which totaled 261.1 million. 81 % of these, therefore, concern Google's operating system.
The largest percentage, however, is worth noting that it concerns devices from Samsung, which dominates among Android manufacturers. Thus, the Samsung Galaxy S4 accounted for 39% of all Android shipments!
There was also a significant increase, however, in shipments of Windows Phone smartphones, which showed a 156% increase compared to last year.
