Fortnite: Drop in Players on the First Day of the New Season

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 had the lowest player count in history. On the day the new Chapter 5 season debuted, Fortnite saw a massive drop in player count with only 2.28 million players logged in.

After the explosive success of Chapter 4's OG Season, players were excited for the start of Chapter 5, resulting in nearly 8 million players tuning in for Season 1.

However, as the seasons progress, fewer players show up to experience the excitement of the first day of the season. As of the third season of Chapter 5, “Wrecked” had the lowest attendance yet.

As revealed by well-known Fortnite leaker Shiina, who posted the results of the player count between seasons in X. This sparked discussions among players about why attendance was so low.

"If you can't enjoy Chapter 5 (weapons, bullet deflection, map), this season won't do it for you either, which is why I think it gets reduced every season. OG was on top because it was simple and recognizable," explained one X user.

Fortnite introduced a slew of new mechanics in Season 3, completely changing the way the game is played. With the addition of new vehicle modifications, medals, and Nitro-powered movement, there are very few similarities in gameplay from the previous season.

For those who aren't fans of driving for much of the game or don't like dealing with vehicles, this season may not be for you.

Wrecked relies almost entirely on these new weapon mods and how they can elevate gameplay. This, in turn, makes players rely less on weapon skills and more on surviving a demolition derby.

It's only day four of Chapter 5 Season 3, and Fortnite has had several weeks to adjust and tweak the current meta, which could lead to more players returning. However, it's clear that Wrecked's fast-paced style isn't for everyone.
