How to enable Google Maps Timeline
To use Google Maps Timeline, you need to enable Location Services and Location History. Location History can be enabled from settings , which automatically creates a Timeline. Here are the steps you need to follow:
- On an Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app.
- Click your profile picture or the initial circle of your account and then select Your Timeline Timeline.
- Click “More” and then “Settings” and “privacy”.
- In the “Location settings” section, check that it says “Location is on.” If it doesn’t, click “Location is off” and enable it.
- In the “Location settings” section, check that it says “Location History is on.” If it doesn’t, click “Location History” and enable it.
How to find travel history using Maps Timeline
- On the phone or Android tablet, open the Google Maps app.
- Tap your profile picture or the account's initial icon, and then click on your Timeline.
- To find another day or month, tap “Today” at the top. Swipe left or right on the calendar to select a day.
- You can also switch between the tabs at the top of the screen, such as Places, Cities or World, to find information about places you have visited.
Before proceeding with the steps, you should know that once you delete a day from the timeline, you will not be able to view it in the future – that day will be removed from the Maps Timeline.
