Nvidia RTX Titan Ada Canceled After Melting PSUs

The long-awaited God-level RTX 4090 Ti , or Lovelace Titan, has apparently been put on hold by Nvidia after it was causing issues with switches, melting PSUs , and occasionally breaking down. It's believed that when it does finally launch, the card could be one of the first to pack GDDR7.

With a 450W TDP, MSRP of $1,600, and 24GB of GDDR6X clocked at 21Gbps, the GeForce RTX 4090 is a beast in every sense of the word. Of course, there were plenty of rumors before launch , including 48GB of memory @24Gbps and a TGP of 900W. And according to Moore's Law is Dead, that rumored graphics card is the Titan Ada.

The source adds that the Titan Ada never had a TGP of 800W – 1,000W as many have claimed, but around 600W – 700W. It was supposedly so large that the motherboard was mounted on the side of the card. It is also said to require two connectors , be four slots thick, and pack the full AD102 GPU instead of the cut-down version found in the RTX 4090.

But it seems that Titan Ada was simply too good to be true, as it was stalling power supplies, breaking and melting PSUs. As a result, the project has been canceled, at least for now.

While it's just a theory, Nvidia could release a Titan Ada card in the future. The company may be waiting for 27 Gbps memory, or GDDR7, to arrive first, allowing for greater performance without increasing power consumption .

Titans have traditionally been aimed more at creators, researchers , and businesses, so even with these power requirements and undoubtedly a fairly high price tag, it will likely manage to sell a lot of units.
