Kaspersky is highlighting KB5007215 as the problematic update for users running the antivirus on Windows 11 computers. Microsoft released Windows 11 on October 5th and released KB5007215 for Windows 11 on November 9th.
The antivirus company itself advised customers to avoid installing Microsoft's Windows updates and notes that there are issues affecting the antivirus after installing updates for Windows 7 through Windows 11.
“After installing a Windows update, Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Windows continues to function properly and system security remains intact. However, errors may occur when attempting to upgrade the application, install a private patch, or change the scope of application components,” it said. “We recommend that you temporarily refrain from installing the listed Windows updates.”
Kaspersky's advice leaves Windows customers in a difficult position: install Microsoft 's improvements and risk Kaspersky not working, or don't install Microsoft's updates but keep Kaspersky working. Kaspersky's advice against installing Windows updates is broad and includes several corporate security-related updates.
