Nintendo has announced the release of a new Switch model with a larger 7-inch OLED screen and 720p resolution. Rumors had it that this model would come with a new Nvidia chip, which would also enable 4K support, although that doesn't seem to be the case. The Nintendo Switch OLED model will be released on October 8th and will cost $349.99.

In addition to the new, upgraded screen, this model includes an adjustable stand for tabletop gaming, 64GB of storage , and a dock with a built-in wired ethernet port. Finally, Nintendo has also made sure to improve the audio for both handheld and tabletop play. Nintendo only mentions support for “up to 1080p via HDMI in TV mode” for the TV dock, so the rumored 4K mode is not part of this OLED Switch.

The new Switch comes almost two years after the Switch Lite, a smaller and cheaper version of the original Switch that doesn't connect to a TV. The Switch Lite was released in September 2019 for $199.
