Tesla: Another electric Semi truck from the company

As Tesla plans to mass-produce the Semi by the end of the year, another prototype of the electric truck has been released. It's the second in the last two weeks.

Tesla Model S

Earlier this month, a new Tesla Semi prototype was spotted being transported to Sacramento and later appeared in Illinois.

It is the first time that new Tesla Semi prototypes have been released since the electric truck was unveiled in 2017

At that time, Tesla presented two prototypes and took them to the US to do some real road testing and demonstrate them to customers who had reserved the electric truck.

At the unveiling of the Tesla Semi, the company said its electric truck would be available in 2019.

After a few delays, Tesla talked about "small number production in late 2020," but the timeline was pushed back to 2021.

Last summer, company CEO Elon Musk told his employees in an email that "it's time to mass produce the Tesla Semi," but he didn't give them a specific timeline.

More recently, Tesla said that production of the electric truck will begin this year with some of the customers who have ordered it receiving the first pieces.

The new Tesla Semi prototype was spotted in Truckee, California over the weekend.

Semi-finished

The new electric truck features the same changes found in the other prototype spotted earlier this month.

But it is definitely different, since it has different wheels and the back of the truck also features a different component setup.

The truck was spotted traveling east, like the previous prototype. It was likely headed from the Fremont plant to the Nevada Gigafactory , but ended up going much further east and was tracked all the way to Chicago

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said the Tesla Semi will be built at the Texas Gigafactory in Austin

Recently, we have also seen indications that Tesla is preparing to move some of its Tesla Semi production to its Nevada.

When presenting the company's earnings last month, Musk said that the Tesla Semi is ready for production. However, mass production is not possible until Tesla increases production of the 4680 batteries.
