Tesla Semi: Tesla's Gigafactory in Nevada is looking for staff

In a new job posting, Tesla referred to “ semi-truck production lines ” at its Gigafactory in Nevada. This suggests that the company will move forward with production of its new Tesla Semi semi-trucks at the plant .

Tesla Semi

When the Tesla Semi was launched in 2017, the automaker said that versions of the model, which is a Class 8 truck with an 80,000-lb. capacity, would have 300- and 500-mile range options and would cost $150,000 and $180,000 respectively.

However, the company's CEO Elon Musksaid they found ways to extend that range during testing of the vehicle.

A year later, Musk said that one version of the Tesla Semi would cover a distance of about 600 miles.

After some delays, Tesla talked about a "small production" in late 2020, but the timeline was later moved to 2021.

Last summer, Musk informed employees that "it's time to release the Tesla Semi into mass production" without providing a timeline.

The CEO later said that the Tesla Semi will be built at the Gigafactory in Austin, Texas.

Despite Musk's comment that Tesla plans to produce the new semi-truck in Austin, we've seen plenty of indications that Tesla is also planning to produce it in Nevada.

Last year, Tesla began construction on a massive new building near its Nevada Gigafactory, which reportedly handle production of the Tesla Semi.

Later, we saw a job posting at the Nevada Gigafactory regarding the Tesla Semi.

Now Tesla has added two more jobs related to the production of the Tesla Semi (process technician and quality engineering manager).

In the job description, Tesla directly mentions “semi-truck production lines”:

“Tesla Gigafactory 1 is looking for a manager to provide Operational & Technical Leadership for quality engineers for the Semi-Truck production lines.“

Tesla has promised to begin production of its electric semi-truck this year, but the exact date is unclear.

The company has already received several orders for its semi-truck. For example, Walmart recently added itself to the Tesla Semi order list. Jerome Guillen, Tesla's president of automotive and head of the program, confirmed that Tesla "has promised some early units to some long-term, very patient and supportive customers," without naming them.
