The names, emails and phone numbers of 272,000 customers of cryptocurrency company Ledger have been leaked online. Hackers gained access to the information when they breached Ledger’s databases in July of this year. The stolen information has reportedly been posted on Raidforums, a website that posts hacked databases.

“… this data breach is not related to or affects our hardware wallets, the app, or funds . Your crypto assets are safe. While it is truly true and truly regrettable, this breach only concerns information related to e-commerce,” the company said.
“We are still investigating this ongoing issue, but the content being dumped may be Ledger’s e-commerce database that was exposed during the June 2020 data breach. This database can be used by hackers for phishing attacks . Our customer support team is working to notify our users via Twitter and answer questions, while also reporting all tweets and Reddit posts that contain a link to the database ,” a company spokesperson said in a statement to Gizmodo.
France- based Ledger revealed in July this year that it had discovered a breach in its e-commerce database that resulted in the theft of customer emails. The hackers allegedly used the information to carry out a “phishing” scam by sending order confirmation emails to the company ’s customers . At the time of the hack, Ledger said that 1 million email addresses along with the personal and contact details of 9,500 of its customers had been compromised. It also said that the breach had not affected its hardware wallets or Ledger Live, its wallet management app
In a series of tweets, Ledger said it was “working with law enforcement to stop hackers. We have taken down over 170 phishing sites since the breach.”
