GitHub is updating its mobile features so developers can write more code from their phone.
The latest version of GitHub for mobile adds many tools for improving, reviewing, and merging code. GitHub for mobile is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store for individual users, Teams, and Enterprise Cloud. GitHub Enterprise Server will receive support later this year.
In short, GitHub mobile is trying to make coding on the go easier. Since the launch of GitHub mobile, the company has seen nearly 700,000 reviews and 350,000 merges, even though writing code on a smartphone is actually quite difficult.
New features include the following:
- An overhaul of the code review, including the ability to disable line wrapping.
- The ability to change the email associated with the merge and edit the commit description.
- Support for comments on multiple lines of code.
- The ability to switch between multiple files in larger code revisions.
