Dell Technologies today announced a new security tool that detects attacks that attempt to modify a computer. It's Dell SafeBIOS Events & Indicators of Attack, a tool that works by detecting changes to a Dell computer's BIOS configuration and pushing an alert to consoles . The purpose of Dell SafeBIOS is to give system administrators the ability to isolate workstations that may have been compromised and remediate them. Dell SafeBIOS is not intended to completely replace the capabilities of an antivirus. Instead, it is designed to provide protection against a range of attacks, BIOS attacks, that most antivirus products cannot detect and handle.

Dell said that detection at this level allows organizations to respond quickly and effectively to advanced attacks and threats, interrupting the attack chain before it can cause more damage. The PC giant also noted that the tool will be provided free of charge to all enterprise customers and is already available for download through Dell Trusted Device. Dell SafeBIOS Events & Indicators of Attack is Dell’s latest security offering. Since the beginning of the pandemic , Dell has been providing its customers with flexible endpoint to help them cope with the current situation.

In particular, it has offered better and more enhanced security during remote work with VMware Carbon Black, which has eliminated endpoint limits until June 20, 2020. In addition, with rapid vulnerability assessments from Secureworks , solutions have been made available to them so that they can identify and address any incidents. Finally, Dell Technologies provides secure devices for remote work, even offering temporary licenses for Dell Encryption until May 15, 2020.
