Discover WiFi password via CMD commands

CMD

Finding a WiFi password on Windows 10 is a relatively simple process, achieved using a few CMD commands. These commands work even when you are offline or connected to a different WiFi network.

When you connect to a WiFi network and enter the corresponding password, you create a WLAN profile of that WiFi network. This profile is saved on computer , along with all the other required WiFi profile details.

These commands allow you to optimize your WiFi network, such as enabling some features (mac address randomization) or changing the type of wireless WiFi, etc.

In case you can't remember your wireless network password , one way to access it is through your router settings . However, since this process can get a bit tedious at times, you can also look up your network's WiFi password using CMD commands.

How to find WiFi password in Windows 10 using CMD?

  • Open the command prompt and run it as administrator.
  • In the next step, you want to find out all the profiles stored on the computer. To do this, type the following command: netsh wlan show profile
  • This command will display all the WiFi profiles you have connected to so far.
  • Type the following command to see the password of any WiFi network: netsh wlan show profile WiFi-name key=clear
  • Under the security settings, in “basic content”, you see the WiFi password of that particular network.

In addition to finding the password of a WiFi network, you can also use the commands to further optimize your WiFi and make it faster. For example, you can enable MAC address randomization by following these steps:

  • Go to Settings and click on “Network & Internet”
  • Select “WiFi” in the left pane and click “Advanced ”.
  • Enable the “ Random Hardware Address ” feature in the settings. If your wireless hardware does not support this feature, the “ Random Hardware Address ” section will not appear at all in the settings app .

Once you turn it on, you're good to go.
