Windows 7 End of Life: Microsoft Recommends Switching to Windows 10

MicrosoftMicrosoft has long announced its plans to end support for Windows 7. The end date will be January 14, 2020.

After 10 years of operation, Microsoft will stop providing updates, which are necessary to protect hardware.

From the moment Windows 7 was first released, on October 22, 2009, Microsoft had decided that it would support it for a decade.

After 10 years, the company wanted to end support for Windows 7 in order to develop and offer new technologies and experiences.

Given that there will no longer be software updates to protect computers, Microsoft is trying to convince Windows 7 users to upgrade to Windows 10.

The company said: "Microsoft recommends that you upgrade to Windows 10 before January 2020 to avoid issues when the service is no longer available."

Microsoft is already notifying Windows 7 users of the shutdown by sending notifications to their computers.

According to statistics, recently Windows 7 users have decreased (from 38.41% to 36.52%), while Windows 10 users seem to be increasing (from 40.30% to 43.62%). In fact, the decrease and increase, respectively, occurred in just 1 month, from February to March.

Since its release, Windows 7 has become the most popular computer operating system. It wasn't until last December that Windows 10 to surpass it and take the top spot.
