Malware in pirated Game of Thrones torrent

malicious If you download pirated TV series, you should be very careful because there is a risk of infecting your computer with a virus. It is common for hackers to exploit popular TV series and shows to install malware.

Now it looks like they're trying to spread some virus using Game of Thrones.

According to new research from Kaspersky, the Game of Thrones torrent is already being used by hackers to inject malware into users' computers. The same has happened with many other series, including The Walking Dead, Vikings, The Big Bang Theory, Supernatural, Grey's Anatomy, and This is Us.

Regarding Game of Thrones, 33 types of malware were found. The results of the research showed that 20,934 users have already been affected.

The phenomenon is very common. Although Game of Thrones did not release any new episodes in 2018, the number of users affected was over 120,000.

Kaspersky Lab classifies this malware as AdWare. One might think it is legitimate software, but it is easy to get confused and download malicious software.

If you want to be safe, you need to pay attention to a few things. First, you should only download from safe sites and only through authorized streaming services. It is also a good idea to check if the page is legitimate and to check the URL. If you want to download a file, read the comments related to it. You may find them useful. Finally, something that is very important in general, and not only for pirated TV series, is not to open suspicious links. Many times, when a link asks you to open it quickly to see something important, it is dangerous.
