The Classic Paint app wasn't supposed to be part of the modern Windows 10 experience, according to Microsoft's plans, so the company announced a long time ago that this little tool would disappear and be replaced by the all-new Paint 3D app.
To make the transition easier, Microsoft originally intended to release the classic Paint app in the Microsoft Store, allowing users to install it if they wanted, even though it has been removed from Windows 10.
Meanwhile, there was a notification in the Paint app warning users that “this version of Paint will soon be replaced with Paint 3D. Classic Paint will be available in the Store.” In this way, Microsoft wanted to let everyone know that the classic Paint app would be discontinued, but also that there was a new app that offered more features.
These plans may have changed, as the warning in Paint was recently removed.
As AL, the warning is no longer present in the Paint app in the latest Windows 10 19H1 preview build, which is already in advanced development. The Windows 10 19H1 version is expected to be finalized next month.
So, with this version of Windows 10 so close and with the warning removed from Paint, many believe that the company could, after all, keep the app around for a little longer.
But if Microsoft does offer two different Paint apps in Windows 10, it could cause problems and make it difficult for beginners.
We can only wait for more information about the future of the Paint app.
