Tesla announced that it is now equipping every Model 3 sold in the United States, Puerto Rico and Mexico with its largest 16-inch center touchscreen , just a day after the same upgrade was released in China.

The Model 3 Performance also gets a black roof liner, 316 miles of range, and 528 horsepower, while the Premium AWD now accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. However, there is no word yet on whether the Model 3 in the US will get vehicle-to-load capability.
Tesla North America announced the changes to the X late Thursday night, and the U.S. configurator is already showing them. Every Model 3 in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Mexico now comes with a larger 16-inch center touchscreen. Other notable features include a black roof liner for the Model 3 Performance, increased range (316 miles, up from 309), and improved maximum power to 528 horsepower. The Model 3 Premium AWD accelerates even faster.
The 16-inch display replaces the 15.4-inch unit across the lineup, including the base Model 3 RWD, which starts at $36,990. Tesla’s comparison tool now lists a 16-inch first-row touchscreen for every trim. It’s the same display Tesla added to the Model Y Premium in January and the one every Model 3 in China received.

The rest of the update focuses on the two dual-motor cars. The Model 3 Performance gets a black roof liner, its EPA-estimated range increases from 309 to 316 miles, and Tesla says peak power has been improved to 528 horsepower. The car was listed with 510 horsepower when it was released in 2024. Its 0-60 mph time remains unchanged at 2.9 seconds.
The Model 3 Premium AWD sees a more significant improvement, now going from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, down from 4.2 seconds, with a range of 346 miles. Tesla didn't specify where the extra power and range come from or whether any of it will make it to cars already delivered.
Vehicle-to-load capability is a notable feature. In China, every Model 3 can now provide 2.2 kW of AC power with an adapter. In the US, Tesla limited V2L to the Model Y Premium, Model Y Performance, and Cybertruck in August, and there were no changes for the Model 3 with this update. Tesla’s comparison tool doesn’t list any external power capabilities for the car.
The new light gray interior that Tesla launched in China is not available on the U.S. configurator. U.S. buyers still have to choose between black and black-and-white, and the black headliner is only on the Performance model.

Canada is not included in this update. Tesla's announcement only mentions the US, Puerto Rico and Mexico, and the Canadian configurator was still showing the 15.4-inch screen when checked. This is unusual, as Canada gets its Model 3 from Giga Shanghai, the same factory that builds the Chinese-market cars that got the 16-inch screen.
