Tesla announced that it will soon begin deliveries of its redesigned Model Y SUV in the US, Canada, Mexico and Europe . Specifically, the launch will take place in March, with a starting price of $60,000.
Elon Musk's electric vehicle company first revealed the refreshed Model Y about two weeks ago. At the time, it said the new electric SUV would arrive in China and other Asian markets (also in March). However, with the new announcement for the US and Europe, it looks like the car will be released around the world at the same time.
The new Model Y shares some common elements with the 2023 Tesla Model 3, while also borrowing some design elements from other projects of the company.

The front has sharper edges, like the new Model 3. It also features a light bar that runs across the front, instead of bug-eye headlights. Tesla also swapped out the traditional taillights for a single light that extends to the back of the car under a small overhang.
Inside, it has the same light bar found in the new Model 3 that wraps around most of the cabin (it can be changed to different colors). There's also a new touchscreen for rear-seat passengers, and Tesla says the suspension has been improved and road noise has been reduced. The new Model Y SUV is a few pounds lighter than its predecessor and can travel more miles, but there's not much difference in range or performance.
The redesigned Model Y launches at a critical time for Tesla, which delivered fewer vehicles in 2024 than in 2023.Tesla also promised to release mysterious new models that will be built on existing production lines. These models will likely be cheaper than Tesla's current offerings.

CEO Elon Musk has hinted that these new models, as well as the Cybercab, unveiled in October 2024, will help the company evolve from a simple automaker into a robotics and artificial intelligence.
Tesla has now updated all four of its core EVs — the Model Y, Model 3, Model S, and Model X — in recent years. But it has only released one truly new model in the past four years, the Cybertruck. While it became the best-selling electric truck in the U.S. in 2024, the Cybertruck doesn't appear to be the huge success Musk had hoped for.

The redesigned Tesla Model Y could reignite consumer interest, though it comes at a higher price than existing versions. The starting price for the special “ Launch Series ” edition is $59,990 (Greece – 61,970 euros ). This version gives buyers a 320-mile battery range and includes Tesla’s most advanced driver assistance software , Full Self-Driving (Supervised). The older Model Y currently starts at $44,990.
