Verizon is the first carrier in the US to offer one of HMD Global’s Nokia phones, launching a customized version of the Nokia 2.1 today. The Verizon version, called the Nokia Prepaid 2 V, is one of the few Android Oreo Go phones sold in the US. Android Go devices are low-cost phones that are typically intended for countries like China and India, as well as for people with limited internet access.

The Nokia 2 V has a basic list of specs, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor and 1GB of RAM .There's a 5.5-inch HD display with two cameras, an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie camera. The phone comes in two colors, blue and silver, and the 4,000mAh battery is larger than most, which HMD Global says can last up to two days on standby. It retails for $70.
HMD Global announced last week that it would start selling Nokia phones directly through North American carriers. Verizon isn't the first to join, though, with Cricket sales starting with the Nokia 3.1 Plus, which costs $159.99 and runs Android 9 Pie with a Snapdragon 439 processor.
