New vulnerability affects Intel processors

Intel processors are being attacked again… This time, it is a Lazy FP state restore vulnerability that affects devices, and the processes for creating the appropriate patches have already started.

Unfortunately, the information that has leaked about the vulnerability is minimal. The positive aspect of the hypothesis is that the vulnerability affects only Intel processors and not AMD.

Unlike Spectre and Meltdown, the latter issue is not a hardware issue, meaning it can be fixed with the appropriate patches. Clearly, Red Hat has already taken action, and solutions from Microsoft and Apple.Intel

All processors that start with Sandy Bridge are affected by the vulnerability, so there are many of you out there who will want the immediate release of patches. Furthermore, it is claimed that the vulnerability can be used to access sensitive information. We hope not.

It cannot be disputed that Intel has been in a dark spot lately and the retaliatory attacks are not giving it a chance to breathe. Sure, you might tell us «watch out» and you'd be right. In the end, the hackers aren't to blame when the company makes it so easy.

Fortunately, Intel has recognized the problem and is working at feverish pace to restore it, not wanting to have the same “troubles” as with Spectre and Meltdown.
